FIRST SIGHTING IN OVER 50 YEARS

On Monday, October 17, 2011, Percy Hanley spotted what appeared to be a White-Crowned Pigeon, high up in a Mango tree in a residential area of Fortlands. He spotted it quite by chance while driving. through the neighborhood. He called Mikey Ryan who lives just around the corner, who soon turned up with his camera and binos, and the sighting was confirmed.

This was the first sighting of the White-Crowned Pigeon in St.Kitts since 1960, a period of over 50 years! It was probably the first sighting here by persons who are alive today!
The photpgraph is not all that clear, but the picture was taken late in the afternoon, and the sun was setting. The White-Crowned was only seen on that one occasion and has not been spotted since!
