FIRST NEW BIRD REPORT — 2014

On March 23rd Percy Hanley was on the South East Peninsula passing the time by doing a little birding in the area around the artificial ponds created by the development of Christophe Harbour. He suddenly heard a call with which he was not familiar. He saw this greyish bird with a whitish eyebrow stripe, two wing bars, and long tail. He carefully noted the markings, and later on checking relevant bird books, he confirmed that this was a Tropical Mockingbird. Unfortunately, he did not have his camera with him so no photograph was taken.

This is the first sighting of the Tropical Mocking Bird in St. Kitts, although there was a sighting in Nevis in 2010 by M. Mark Ludlow.
